UWC Short Course Malaysia is back!

Date:             24-30 July, 2020

Venue:          Janda Baik, Pahang

Eligibility:    Form 4 (Grade 10 or equivalent)

Do you ever wonder about… who am I?  What do I care about? How can I impact my community positively? How can I meet and connect with other like-minded young people?

UWC Short Course Malaysia is a one-week, bilingual (English and Malay) residential programme for young Malaysians. Through interactive workshops, games, debates, and role-playing, participants will tackle the big question faced by Malaysia today: how do we best live together in difference and diversity?

At this Short Course, you will:

  • Make lifelong friendships with 30 students from various backgrounds all over Malaysia.

  • Engage in open, constructive forum to discuss, debate and learn about important issues facing us as a society: identity formation, multiculturalism, and social responsibility.

  • Express your opinions confidently and empathise with perspectives different from your own.

  • Learn how to make a positive impact in your own communities and be prepared to launch your own post-course project.

The cost of the programme is entirely free. Food, accommodation and transport to and from KL Sentral to the campsite is covered. Travel stipends are available for those in need.

We are looking for 30 Form 4/Grade 10 students from all types of racial, geographical, economic and religious backgrounds.

We do not look at academic qualifications when selecting for participants. Instead, we seek out individuals who are willing to step outside their comfort zones, engage in constructive conversations about identities and conflict, as well as to independently lead initiatives in their own communities.
